As a recruit you need to make it your job to know the team and coaching staff of the universities that you are interested in. “Follow” or “friend” programs and coaches if they utilize social media sites; this does not count as direct contact and will not violate NCAA rules or regulations, as they currently stand. NCAA rules state that college coaches will not be able to respond directly to recruits, but they will be able to send out updates informing ALL recruits of special events and team happenings.
NCAA rules do not allow coaches to make comments or post comments regarding possible recruits, even if student-athletes initiate the conversation. The only way college coaches can communicate with recruits using social media is through email functions.
