Congratulations to Ray Gonzalez named PRESIDENT of Brea Little League
Brea, California Ray Gonzalez is serving his first term as Brea Little League's President after serving several (9) on the Board of Directors in various positions including Vice President the past 2 seasons. Ray's in his early 40's, has lived in Brea his whole life, and played baseball through Brea Little League from t-ball all the way up until high school where he played all 4 years at Brea Olinda High School. Ray no longer has a kid in the league, as his (only) son (Ray Jr.) is now in high school at Brea Olinda. Ray has pumped every ounce of himself into this league for the good of the league over the years. A great example would be just this this past Fall Season (...which just ended) Ray ended up coaching a AA -level team (8-9 year olds) as the team didn't have any parent coaches confident enough to take the job. Ray and Ray Jr. coached the team together roughly 7 weeks including all practices and games, and also trained a couple of parents to take over the team.
I just think it's extremely fitting, that a guy who's spent so much of his time over the years selflessly on behalf of the League and the Brea Community gets to 'take us in' so-to-speak. I know he feels extremely honored to do so.
I'm attaching a couple of pictures of Ray, one as a young Brea Little Leaguer and one current in a separate email. Please let me know if you do not receive.
As for a paragraph, those of us involved are just extremely proud to be involved with an organization so rich in it's history. We often talk about how Brea Little Little is a baseball organization, but truly we're in the business of trying to raise good citizens. With over 600 participants in 2012, we continue to be the largest baseball organization in Brea and one of the largest in District 56. This past season partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and put 120 coaches through a specialized training. PCA's mission is to transform all of our Managers and Coaches into "Double-Goal Coaches"; whose first goal is winning, while his second and more important goal is teaching life lessons through baseball.
